What's on a sheet

Stroke order, one stroke at a time

Each kanji gets a model, its readings and meaning, and a row of frames that adds one stroke at a time. The new stroke is red with a start dot, so learners see direction as well as order.

Trace, then write

Choose how many tracing boxes come before the empty ones, how many rows per kanji, and whether the cells have dashed guide lines — the layout used in Japanese school notebooks.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Any worksheet with up to 10 kanji is free, with no sign-up. Kanji Sheets Pro ($12, one-time) adds unlimited kanji per sheet, one-click packs for every JLPT level and school grade, and quizzes with answer keys.

Which stroke order do you use?

The stroke order taught in Japanese schools, from the KanjiVG project. Each sheet shows the strokes one by one, with the current stroke in red and a dot where it starts.

Can I share the worksheets with my class?

Yes. Every sheet is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0, so you can print, copy and hand them out — even commercially — as long as the attribution line at the bottom stays on the page.

Which kanji are included?

All 2,136 jōyō kanji (the official list of kanji for general use in Japan), with readings, meanings, stroke counts, JLPT levels and school grades.
